The Heenan Brothers is sometimes a duo, a trio or a quartet that plays folky, bluesy kind of Americana respectfully referred to as Canal Blues. We started as a father (Rick) and son (Cory) duo playing guitar and bass. We were introduced at a local open mic as The Heenan Brothers by Doc Stuart. We liked the moniker and kept it. Later we added good friend and mandolin player Rick Bauer. Time marches along and son Cory gets a real job and Chris Franke takes up the slack. Chris moves to Nashville in 13' and is replaced by Ken "Rickenbacker" Johnson. Last year 16' we added harmonica player Bob "Rickybobby" Savoy.
Today The Heenan Brothers consist of: Rick Heenan, guitar and vocals; Rick Bauer, mandolin, ukulele and vocals; Rickenbacker Johnson, bass, lap steel; Rickybob Savoy, harmonica and vocals.
The Heenan Brothers try to be versatile and can arrange our performance as a duo. Rick & Rick. A trio, Rick, Rick and Rickenbacker, or a quartet, Rick, Rick, Rickenbacker and Rickybob. Or any combination thereof.
