Oh my gosh!

posted February 22, 2011

You know, I've always heard that it takes money to make money but I think there should be some limits.  As I've already said in my earlier blog, I am going to do some Craft Shows this year at least I hope I am.  Some of these entry fees are way out of line.  I just can't see how a small business can get much of a payback out of them. I mean $525.00 plus an application fee of $40.00. And that's just the local one. I even thought about one in South Carolina but $1,700.00 entry fee is just out of my league right now.  And to top it all off, it seems that all the deadlines for applications are right around the first quarter of the year.  Don't these promoters know that we have property taxes and Christmas to get over, let alone pay our mortgage, car, utilities and insurance. And soon, with the prices of food going up, none of us will be able to afford to eat!  This week, I just found out that all materials made of Cotton will be at least double very soon, something about crop failures!

If I wanted to gamble, I would buy lottery tickets but I just don't see any point until the odds come way down.

I'm afraid to shell out big entry fees. Does anyone have any stories they can share about what kind of money they are grossing at some of these shows?  I need some encouragement
