Thompson Fine Art, Fort Worth, TX
In 1971 I began my full time career in fine art b in 1962ut had been selling my art since the age of 14 in 1962. My paintings of old New Orleans and classic Jazz bands in colorful settings have garnered a huge following and have been sold to patrons world wide. After moving my studio to Texas, I have added a variety of other eye catching subjects, some Americana, nature vignettes, southwestern and the romance of the old west and even a smattering of pirates & other rogues. My art is created with distinctly high detail and fine finish technique in a blend of focused realism and harmonizing passages of abstraction. I love to let the character of the art materials come through and play a part in the visual richness. The themes are reflections of the joy of life and the beauty to be found in America, predominately the south and southwest. The lore and romance of the old west and other characters; for example the intrigue and humor to be found in the mythology of pirates are created totally for fun; mine & yours. Many years in New Orleans led me to a love of the traditional jazz makers and vintage jazz halls and cafes, which has engendered an enthusiastic patron following. I continue to grow and explore new themes and creative possibilities. The production of fine art prints, in archival HD form, has made my art work available at reasonable prices to a broader audience.
