I started making candles in 2002 during a period of unemployment. I had a very expensive candle habit that I could no longer afford! I am a candle snob and only like to burn the best quality, highly scented candles.
So, I decided that I would try my hand at making my own candles. After a lot of trial and error, I have perfected my candles to please even a candle snob like myself!
My sisters, Kathleen and Carol, also got the candle making bug and together we created Three Sisters Candles! Sadly, my sister Carol no longer makes candles with us, but Kathleen and I decided to keep the name, and hope that Carol will someday be back making candles with us.
We prefer to make our candles with paraffin wax because we find that it burns better and gives off a better scent than soy or palm wax. We experimented with both soy and palm, but ultimately decided to stick with paraffin.
Our candles will burn completely leaving only a flat candle disc if proper care is given. Make sure that you keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch, hand form the top edges in towards the center while the wax is still warm and pliable. Use a wick dipper to extinguish your candle and you will have no lingering smoke.
When your candle has burned down to 1/2, it is time to toss it and buy a new candle from Three Sisters Candles!
