Wanderations Handcrafted Jewelry, Moodus, CT
I was born in 1968 in CT where I still live and make my home with my husband and 3 children. Creating jewelry has become my daily meditation and my daily mantra has become "keep calm...bead on".
I got started when I was out of work due to a long term illness that kept me housebound. I started falling into a depression and beading became my therapy. It helped me to feel creative and not dwell on my sickness. The more jewelry I made, the more I felt a "connection" and I knew I wanted to continue making jewelry all the time. I loved the feel of the different types of beads and the way the colors came together to create something so beautiful out of something so plain.
I've been beading seriously now for about 2 years. I'm just delving into making my creations public, so that is very exciting and scary for me at the same time. It's very personal putting my heart and soul out there for everyone to look at, touch, and ultimately, judge. But it is also worth it.
All my jewelry is one of a kind and personally designed by me in my beading studio. Before a piece of jewelry comes to life, it is thought out in my head, then sketched out in my journal. At times I will draw 10-15 drawings before I start designing; I have so many ideas floating around my head I just need to get them down on paper before they go away.
This process of sketching each piece then creating it from the sketched out idea takes about an hour per piece give or take some time for complexity. I always use materials that I, myself, would love to wear and I try on each piece to be sure it is comfortable to wear; it falls in just the right places; and the overall look of it just "works". I put a lot of thought, creativity, and time into my jewelry creations and I always make some kind of connection with each piece I make. I hope you will find a piece or set that speaks to you in a special way and you can make that special connection too.
And above all...Live, Love, Laugh and WEAR YOUR JEWELRY!
