Watts Summer Festival, Inc is the host organization for the annual Watts Summer Festival. The Watts Summer Festival is the oldest African American cultural festival in the state of California. The Festival began in 1966 and is considered to be one of the positive outcomes of the 1965 Watts Revolt. It is a family event with a two-fold purpose of sharing African American culture and preserving the history of Watts, CA. The Festival has continued to present a free admission event despite the changes of demographics, event location, reduced attendance and sponsorship.
