Dana and Sharon Starcala are artists in the Jacksonville, NC area who specialize in wood art. While they specialize in the ancient art of wood mosaic, or intarsia, they have created fretwork shadowboxes, scrolled Christmas ornaments, and special order items. Currently, they are filling orders for their version of the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor Marine Corps Emblem, with flags draped behind the globe, done entirely of wood. Each of the 345+ pieces was hand scrolled, sanded, shaped, carved, and glued together to make the whole, this is their most impressive piece to date. It measures 38" wide x 47 1/2" long! On display at their website now.
