The Company’s founder, Robin L. Walker comes from a long line of sewers on her mother’s side of the family. Robin’s great grandmother sewed in order to provide clothing for her large family during the depression years and Robin’s Grandmother continued the tradition, also sewing clothing for her children when they were growing up. Today sewing has become more of an art form, which peaked Mrs. Walker’s interest back in the early 90’s. Robin began to sew with her grandmother and found that she had a natural talent for it.
Robin started to make her own creations and when people saw them they wanted to buy them. Robin had many years of retail and customer service experience, selling was second nature to her; she began to realize that there is a demand for handmade products and started selling them. She began to sew in order to supplement her income. Then she became interested in the old art form of wool felting. Robin fell in love with the texture and colors of wool and the versatility of the art that could be created. She started to make handbags out of felted wool. She had seen other examples but knew she had to take it to the next level. Robin added beading and embellishments for more texture and interesting design to the purses and a company began.
Wool-2-Wonders’ unique designs have been exhibited in local art galleries. Robin is also a member of the sewing guild and an award winning County Fair recipient.
