The top of our EZ-Up tent is now stretched and droopy due to a massive thunderstorm with torrential rain that occurred after setup. Any suggestions on how to remove the floppy slack? Thanks Lisa Brown at Bear Paw Sticks & Staffs

One cannot remove the slack, but there are a couple different options to prevent the collection of rain in the future. The 1st is to go to a store and purchase 4 five ft bungie cords..the kind with the fabric around them. There should be 4 holes in the center support. Hook one end in the holds and then secure the other end in the corners. This will remove the slack. You will have to work to get it up with the increased tension, but it will prevent the rain from gathering in the low spots The other options is either hula hoops or noodles (the kind kids use in the pool) . Use the hula hoops or noodles to wedge between the top and the framework on the corners to cause the top to stand up and not droop to collect water. We have used both options and both work fine.

Thanks for the tent tips. We're going to try the noodles first, as we have another outdoor festival this weekend (4/4/09). Can you even buy hula hoops any more??? (Gee, I KNEW I was gettng old, but . . .) Mikeattaway, we've been paying members for a while. Check out our profile, gallery, calendar, and blog!

I had an easy up with slack roof. What I did was stamd on a ladder or chair. Lift the top pole as high as you can with the top on. Drill a hole into the top pole...may 1/8 or 3/16" hole. Put a pin or a big nail into the hole. This will keep the top stretched tight. There is quite a bit of lift on the top pole before it comes out of it's sleeve. You have to remember to take out the oin/nail before you take down the canopy. Hope this helps. John Bushnell
