Monday, September 27, 2010 01:29 pm EDTWe've been planning our first show for some time and feel like we're ready to experience the ups and downs, expected and unexpected and earn income. Our first question is: is it generally more profitable to display inside or outside? We have a 10' x 10' canopy to protect from sun and mild wet weather. Question #2: Do most or all shows allow you to drive up to your booth to load and unload? Our canopy weighs 65# and we have 2-3 tables and 4-6 chairs along with inventory. Our inventory is not the problem in transporting to the booth, it's the heavier and awkward set up items. Quetion #3: We made four 45# weights by partially filling up 5# buckets with concrete and setting an eyebolt in the middle. We can tether the canopy with tight bungee cords or rope. How often do you experience wind issues that could blow your canopy away? What are your experiences with this issue? We'll save Questions #4+ for later.00000
Tuesday, September 28, 2010 01:00 pm EDTI think displaying inside and outside is the way to go. I would walk around some events and see how other people are doing it. Most events let you drive up to unload (but it's a question for the promoters). Hope you get more insight!00000
Tuesday, September 28, 2010 05:47 pm EDTThanks a lot Julie. We will definitely be observant. We're scheduled for 6 shows over the next 7 weeks and I'm sure we'll get a lot of on the job training. We may be overly concerned about wind because we're from windy Oklahoma. We really appreciate your thoughts.00000
Wednesday, September 29, 2010 11:30 pm EDTWind is a major problem at shows. When I am showing on grass I use those twist into the ground things and attach them with tiedown straps. I also tie cinderblocks on the corners if it's really windy. Also think about the inside of your booth. The sides flap, even when they are velcroed together. You need to figure out how to stop that so it doesn't blow your things over.00000

Monday, March 5, 2018 05:03 pm ESTI would say, here in New England, most shows I could drive close to drop off the canopy and everything, then go park. There is always one a year, that makes you hoof it across a football field.00000
