Hollyboots, Compton, CA
The Hollyboots project began as a studio production when composer/songwriter Chris LaShelle and singer/songwriter Holly French joined forces in 2003. Chris’s diverse, mad scientist intonations, twisted visions, and rhythmic ciphers, infused with Holly’s haunting hooks, provocative ideas, and effervescent presence, collide into the phenomenon that has become "Hollyboots". Their music has been described as "New-Wave Pop Rock" – reminiscent of the sounds of the 1980’s.
Due to the amazing response of the Hollyboots studio project, in January 2008 the Hollyboots band was formed. Holly and Chris handpicked the most talented, spirited, and committed musicians they could find. Since then, they have been working nonstop at increasing their marketability and preparing themselves for the journey that lies ahead. Their invigorating live performance and stage presence were developed through playing at several small venues across Los Angeles and north Orange Counties.
Kevin "TKO" Ramos, professional bass virtuoso, also manages the band and co-produces the live act. The keyboard styling of Johnerick Montano contributes the nostalgic depth and dimension of our signature sound. Guitarist Ruben "John" Flores adds rocking riffs, subtle hits, funky licks, and rhythmic twists. Percussionist Rochelle Coatney ties the package together with her brilliant dynamics, fills, and grooves on drums. Courtney Allen, New Jersey native and professional photographer of DC Image Photography, brings to the mix a deep low-end backup vocal. Also on backup vocals we have Holly’s vocal coach Kathleen Riggs - protégé of her renowned vocal training father. Last but not least, we have our diverse and charismatic frontwoman Holly French who developed her voice singing club tracks and jingles as a young songwriter in Germany.
The full-length album consists of 16 original songs ranging from pop/dance-rock to live electronics, ballads and more. All while staying true to the distinctive Hollyboots sound. We thank you for reading and we look forward to your response.
