Art Quilt " The Parrot Fish " One Of A Kind Original Handmade Gift , Ready to Ship.

This is a handmade original art quilt, one of a kind gift for a fishing enthusiast..

After creating the background fabric using commercial cottons and batik, I started to" build" the fish, adding small pieces of fabrics, one at a time, sometimes as small as quarter inch large. The body, scales and the tail are covered with neutral color tulle before a dense free motion quilting has been stitched using polyester variegated threads. To give additional texture, a very thin layer of polyester fiber has been inserted under part of the head and the beck. The eye is densely free motion machine embroidered. More quilting has been done around the fish in a wavy line pattern. 

This art quilt has been sandwiched with polyester batting and a printed batik light blue/green backing fabric (last picture).

Colors are quite well rendered on the first two pictures. Additional pictures have been added to capture details of the machine work. Please contact me if you need closer caption, I will do my best to get it.

Size : 12 3/4 x 15.5 inches. This piece would deserve to be nicely framed. However, a hanging sleeve has been stitched at the back for easy hanging with a dowel.
