Welcome to Artisan Handwovens
* where all pieces are handcrafted and handwoven
* where many pieces include handspun yarns,
* where handspun yarns are custom blended to make them unique and one-of-a-kind,
* and where skill and heart matter more than how quickly, cheaply, or uniformly a product can be made by a machine.
My interest in weaving began in childhood on a toy loom. Nine years ago I took a weaving class and bought a floor loom. After my first lesson, I knew I wanted to keep weaving. I started selling at local craft fairs followed by regional fairs. I created a website and store, atisanhandwovens.com and opened an Etsy shop in June 2014.
It is time consuming but deeply satisfying to reconnect to how all cloth was once made. I love the feeling of raw fiber and lanolin between my fingers, it's earthy odor, before transforming it into something beautiful and/or useful. Working with fibers, the quality and craftsmanship is literally in my hands.
Thank you for visiting my shop. I hope you will enjoy my hand spun and handwoven products as much as I enjoyed creating them. Take a close look to see how it is made and if it measures up to your expectations of quality, and the attention to detail that went into making them. Thanks for visiting and come again. If you like what you see, tell your friends and family.
Thank you for visiting,
Cindy

My Shop Policies
My Team
My team is composed of all the small family ranchers who sell me their fiber. I blend, spin, dye, and weave: Huacaya, Suri alpaca (20%), Kid/Yearling Mohair, silk, and wools chosen for their softness, shine, and some, their conservation status. These breeds are: Gotland, Cotswold, Shetland, Icelandic, Falkland, Merino, Polwarth, Churro, Stansborough Grey and Rambouillet. I enjoy spinning yarns for weaving on my spinning wheel, but it adds to the number of man hours needed to complete a project so I also use a variety of mill spun yarns using cotton, nylon, polyester, rayon, and metallic. It's fun using ribbons and unusual yarns. Each year I try to learn a new weave structure or use a new fiber.
PRODUCTS
Currently I make scarves or mufflers, shawls, heirloom baby blankets, and lap throws or blankets, and dish towels. As I explore making other items, I will add them to my shop.
PRICES
Prices vary according to: size, quantity of yarn used, mill or hand spun, man-made or natural fibers, hand dyed, and availability or rarity of the fiber.
Payment
I accept PayPal, MasterCard, and Visa. Purchases are mailed with the verification of payment.
SALES TAX
Sales tax will be added to your bill during checkout if required by your state. I can send you a revised invoice reflecting the additional tax if needed.
CUSTOMS
International buyers please be aware that you may have to pay duties and taxes on your items once they arrive in your country. Contact your local customs office to see if and how this applies to you.
Refunds and Exchanges:
If you are dissatisfied with your purchase and want to return it, EMAIL ME RIGHT AWAY. Buyers have 14 calendar days, beginning the date of shipping, including weekends, to request a return, and get a full refund minus shipping charges. Refunds will be sent upon receipt of the item which must be in its original condition, unworn, washed, or damaged.
No refunds will be given if an item is damaged. Damage is defined as not in its original condition upon completion of weaving it. If there are snags or pulled threads that are unable to be fixed, this will constitute damage because the item can now not be sold at its full price. It will be returned to you if desired without a refund.
Additional Information:
Shipping
I use the US Postal Service to ship in the US, and to Europe, both EU and non EU countries. My handwovens lend themselves to easily being mailed in large mailer envelopes which are very lightweight. In all cases, I will look for the most economical and secure way to send you your purchase. I also offer shipping upgrades if you would like to get something right away. International customs for buyers where this applies, will be the responsibility of the buyer.
INSURANCE & TRACKING
I don't want either of us losing money should an item be lost, stolen, or damaged during shipment so I include insurance and tracking on all purchases. A purchase can be returned and refunded if it's been insured. The same applies to those that have been stolen off your doorstep. (My own experience.)
LOST
In the event an item is lost in the mail, you will have a tracking number with which to take the necessary steps to search for it, and the insurance to reimburse you for your purchase
