Mitzi Kart, West Linn, OR
I have been lampworking and working with fused glass for 16 years. I create fused glass functional artwork and art pieces to enjoy. My love of the Pacific NW inspires my art from abstract to impressionism.
As I design an art piece, I try to imagine it finished. How will my art interact in its environment and how will it elicit a response from the person viewing it? I use a variety of ground glass, called frit, to build layers in the glass. I also work on the glass torch, called lampworking, to make intricate components to create even more layers. The result is a complex degree of depth that plays with the viewer's eye, giving textures and images that you don't usually associate with fused glasswork.
I sell my work at art festivals in the pacific NW and at my Square Up Market Place and Etsy both under the name mitzi-kart.
