Marketing Your Shop
- Be sure to write a company description in your community profile & add a main profile picture so visitors can connect with you through reading about your art, craft, product or service. You can also mention your shop in your bio. Your shop link is on the left of your profile page.
- Upload a shop banner with your business name, logo, and something personal to give your shop a nice first impression.
- Including thorough shop policies are very important to your online success. There is a standard default layout for your policies, but you will need to add a welcome message and fill out all those areas. Any other guarantees or stipulations you may have for your shop should also go there. Tip! If you accept Paypal, mention that buyers can pay with a credit card via Paypal without a Paypal account!
- Make sure your products are photographed well. Products not represented well visually, more than likely will not sell. Your photographs are a very important investment, if you want to be successful selling online. People who have never seen your handiwork, at a festival or otherwise, do not know you or your work. The visual image of each item is truly a reflection on your business, professionalism and passion.
- You may upload 4 photos per item. Make good use of that by presenting your piece from multiple viewpoints. Show various angles and get a close up of the detail work.
- Write nice item descriptions. Think about things you would want to know about the item if you were considering purchasing a similar item at an event. You have to explain the piece as if the description didn't accompany a photo. Bring your item to life with your words. If you can not write well, find someone who can. Just like your photos, the description needs to be professional, well written and descriptive.
- Always include the dimensions or size, if applicable.
- Shoppers love to see the backstory to items. Include your influences and personal feelings about a piece. Sometimes when people see the attached artistic emotion, they get more invested themselves.
- Make use of the tags/keywords. At the bottom of the item listing form, you'll see an option for "Tags." This allows people to search by keywords and find your items in the Marketplace. You must use tags in addition to quality descriptions for your items to be found. In addition to words explaining the color, materials, symbols and components, describe the style and general feeling or subject of the piece. You never know who will land on your shop, so be as thorough as possible.
Marketing Your Shop
- Consider one or both of the following to get additional exposure: Feature your Company and Feature your Items
- In your email signatures, link to the URL of your FestivalNet profile or the URL of your store. Also add your FestivalNet URL to your business cards and start collecting email addresses at your events to start an email campaign anouncing new items listed for sale in your shop. You should also do email marketing telling your fans/customers where you will be exhibiting and any news you have about your business.
- If you have a website or blog, insert a customized shop button to drive visitors to your FestivalNet shop.
- Help bring traffic to your shop by marketing it! Be sure to regularly share your shop link on your social network pages. If you have a facebook or twitter account, talk it up to your followers. Chances are they'll be likely to click through to your shop, and you may gain a new customer! If you don't know what your shop URL is, get in touch with customer service, we'll help you out!
