I have ventured to many corners in the world of art. I love the complexity of ceramic sculpture, the visual stimulation of painting, and photography is an opportunity for me to share what I personally see. My paintings are vibrant, peaceful, and tranquil; layers upon layers to create textures you want to touch. My Sculptures and Collages are emotional pieces, meant to let you peer into a window of my inner being.
Raised in North Texas by my German-born mother, I was introduced early, like most children, to a set of crayons. Teacher's always told us to color within the lines and I always wondered why. Where is individuality found if we all colored within the lines with the red crayon? Breaking the boundaries of those lines is what has made time's greatest artists unique.
I am influenced by everything around me; colors, shapes, hues, tones, distance, perspective, shadows, contrast, density, lines, repetitive shapes surround us at this very moment. Every nuance of daily life is a possibility for inspiration. I have always been drawn to nature and peaceful surroundings, although I have, at times, broken those boundaries into darker realms. My dreams are always a major influence in my art. What most people call nightmares, I call an opportunity to capture my inner thoughts and fears.
