Our Mission is to inspire and promote appreciation, education, participation and support for a broad range of arts and cultural interests for the benefit of Brunswick County artists and arts-related organizations, students and the community at large.
The BAC was founded in 1981 and soon became a Designated Partner of the North Carolina Arts Council to assist other non-profit arts organizations through its Grassroots funding program. Today the BAC has over 400 members and has expanded it's reach to include scholarships, grants for individual artists, bus trips and programs for Brunswick County Schools targeting at-risk students to help increase academic performance.
In 2012 the Charles Dickens Festival was born out of a desire to honor the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens, bring art and education to the community of Southport, NC and to raise funding to support our mission.
