As a stay-home Dad of two daughters afternoon nap time usually meant picking up toys and doing dishes & laundry, prepping dinner and then waiting for the wife to come home or the girls to awaken. Daytime TV was never an option and I don't have any at-home hobbies. So I was almost literally "Going Bananas"!
At the suggestion of my wife, I started teaching myself how to bake quick breads. Which,once they were mastered, gave way to baking Gooey Butter Cakes, muffins, cookies and traditional cakes. As my experiences grew in frequency and difficulty, my friends and family were enjoying my new found talent, as well as supporting it through the purchase of some of my baked goods. And that is how this whole enterprise became a reality for my family and I.
I now bake, design and decorate custom cakes for any occasion, have a Drunken Desserts line - in which the product is made with alcohol before and after baking. And we are involved Lin four local Farmers Markets and enjoy participating in festivals and events that have room or need for a baker.
