Christine has been watching the play of light and shadow since grade school. After several years of tinkering with cameras and processing prints in a basement dark room, she attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh earning an Associates Degree in Photography. She has been a photographer in the Mid-Atlantic area ever since, establishing Armstrong Studio Associates, Ltd. in 1988. In 2009 the studio migrated to a small farm in northern Maryland where an existing barn was up-cycled and a green studio was born.
For her commercial clients, she brings creative innovation to all the work, imparting a clean, clear style that focuses attention on the product and calms the clutter. Her green-living lifestyle and eco-conscious studio influence images in ways that are at times very obvious, but often just as subliminal. Clients see hints of found objects, organic elements, seasonal flora, handcrafted papers and recycled surfaces throughout her work which lends a unique flavor to every image. With decades of shooting and styling experience, an expert eye for detail and a drive to shoot later and ask questions first, making the client's goals her own is instinctive.
Now, entering what some call a third chapter, she is turning years of fleeting glimpses of the little things in her life into a show, revealing a body of work never seen or produced for any client. This time the images are for the pure pleasure of showing how a life long commercial photographer sees the world around her, every day.
