Art in Public Places (APP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Dothan, Alabama, serving the tri-state Wiregrass region of southeast Alabama, southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. Our mission is to foster a thriving arts ecosystem in the Wiregrass by enriching shared spaces with public art and community-driven art experiences.

APP works across four pillars: Murals, Programs, Public Art, and Community Investment. Year-round, we commission and manage public murals and sculpture, and we produce free community programs, including The Loop Music & Art Festival, First Friday Art Nights, the Art Outside public installation series, and the Levitt AMP Dothan Music Series. Each year APP gives $10,000 in community grants to individual artists and arts organizations, plus thousands more in college scholarships. Our Junior Board brings the next generation of arts leaders into this work.

APP was founded by Executive Director Holly Meyers, a Dothan gallerist and owner of Bells Gallery. The organization grew out of a belief that great art belongs in shared public spaces and that the artists who make it deserve real support. That belief shapes the Loop. Now in its sixth year and produced in partnership with the City of Dothan and Live at the Opera, the festival is curated by people who work with artists every day. We know what makes a show worth the drive: fair fees, real buyers, good hospitality, and respect for the work.
