Out of our pain, comes our passion, comes our purpose... It is said that every artist dips his brush inside his own soul and paints himself into his picture - how true. To me, art is very much a work of heart. That is how I feel about each piece I create. My passion and purpose is to create something to bless, encourage, uplift and inspire your heart.
So often art imitates life; and I have found that to be true in my life. Much like a piece of glass can be broken and then smoothed into something beautiful by the ocean waves, God can take the brokenness of life and redeem it in the most unlikely of ways. God used this picture of sea glass to comfort my heart during a time when both of my kids faced life-threatening medical conditions. Between countless doctor appointments, Emergency Room visits, late nights and financial challenges, my broken heart felt very much like a sharp, jagged piece of broken glass.
One day while walking on the Connecticut shore during a particularly heart wrenching season of this journey, I found my first piece of sea glass. In that moment, God reminded me that just as there would be no sea glass without the waves, He would bring beauty through my pain. All at once it hit me, I wanted my life to reflect the beauty of pain like a smooth piece of sea glass - that all of the pain of our illness and all the trials that came with it, would wear down the sharp edges so I could be a blessing to others who were hurting.
I believe there is beauty all around us, but not in the places you'd expect. I see beauty in imperfection and a strength in adversity. We are all broken but God can bring beauty from pain - and sharing that hope has become my purpose.
So I created ArtSea Heart to fulfill my passion to create one-of-a-kind "heart work" to bless, encourage, celebrate and inspire your heart. All of my designs feature my unique hand lettering and genuine sea glass and/or heart-shaped rocks, shells, and beads combined with my original watercolors and alcohol inks. All of my framed art pieces and/or Christmas ornaments make perfect gifts to share or keep for yourself.
