Since the age of 8 years old, I have always enjoyed art. I started drawing one afternoon on the bedroom wall while my mother was at work . Not thinking the pencil marks would take some work to erase, I started with a simple tree. The branches and leaves came next, I think you get the idea.
I wanted the tree trunk to have texture (just in my mind) and shading. I wanted the leaves to look real on the branches, ground and everywhere.
The mountains came next. At the age of 8, I had to make something up. Its was really looking good to me! Many other things came after that and before you know it ....My first landscape!
That small space of wall for my experiment had become larger than I wanted. There was no way I could clean this quickly before mom got home.
My mother came home shortly after I realized how much I had done. Standing with pencil marks all over my hand and school clothes, I was nervous!
Mom took one look at what I had done and said.... "It looks nice, now take your time and finish".
I have taken up the brush and pencil again after 25 years. My kids are grown, and "Mom this is for you"!
