A couple of old codgers who love to play music, laugh and have fun AND make some money doing it. We play mostly "ECLECTIC AMERICANA". I can hear you saying: "What is that"? Well, I'm gonna tell ya to the best of my ability.
AMERICANA takes in the familiar songs you heard in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's.....some country, blues, rockabilly, swing, old time, gospel and other genres that escape me at the moment. ECLECTIC: "deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources". We take these old familiar tunes, enhance them, energize them, and sometimes revise them for a more appealing sound and performance.
Lonnie Shurtleff has been well known around the area for many years. He has played almost every venue in Baker County Oregon and surrounding counties. Lonnie's popularity has broadened substantially through the years. He now has followings in Oregon, Idaho, Utah, California, Montana, Wyoming and Oklahoma. He started playing at a young age. His mother: Gerry Shurtleff, was an accomplished musician and great influence for him.
Lonnie is a very active musician. He is known as the "Eclectic Cowboy" in many parts of the western states where he performs his Cowboy Poetry and Songs. All of his stories are 100% true....some are even 140% true. You can catch Lonnie's cowboy series in Wallowa, Oregon. Take the tram to the top of the mountain every Wednesday thru the summer months.

Marilyn Haynes; my influences came from my
Dad: Pete Haynes, a well known figure in Baker, Guilliam, Morrow, and Harney Counties in Oregon and surrounding areas for many years. Dad was an old time fiddler and won many contests throughout Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Dad played completely by ear. A piano was given to me when I was 8. Dad immediately grabbed the fiddle and drew a note across the strings. He said: "Find that note, Babe". That was the beginning. We had the good fortune to have 53 years playing music together. Dad passed September 19, 2000. He called me to his bedside one day and said: "Don't let the music die!"
That statement rang in my ears and I was lost wondering how
to keep the music alive. Thankfully, my now deceased husband, Keith Shollenberger was a great guitar player and singer and had been playing with us since he and I were married in 1984. With the help of a great friend, and very good musician we continued on with the music. No more fiddling as none of us played the fiddle. But we learned to do some singing and I learned some piano lead.
Barefoot & Bonafide: Our music comes from the heart, the soul and the inner depths of many years of influences and experiences.
Have you ever noticed how a song or melody will bring back an old memory? We hope we bring back good memories for you!
