Black Creek Ridge is a home grown company that specializes in fine woodworking and fine art. Nestled in rural northern Indiana, we took a 5 generation family farm that had been neglected and turned it into an estate. When the emerald ash borer came through northern Indiana and decimated our beautiful ash trees, many people were left with standing dead timber. We felled seventy ash trees and hauled them to our property. We then contacted a sawyer from our church who came over and cut the logs into forequarter lumber and timbers. After the wood dried we then built the Carriage House. We built it using mortise and tenon joinery. This was the hardest thing we have ever done, and yet, the most rewarding. The Carriage House is a wood shop on the lower level and the after climbing 18 stairs you enter the art studio. We purposely installed 16 windows in the art studio to give a panoramic view of the farm and to allow for natural light. The Carriage House has since been a gathering place for friends, families, and clients who come to stroll through our beautiful gardens, or take a walk to the low ground where a shaded area overlooks a stream. We get our inspiration from this beautiful parcel of land, and work consistently to rehab it into a place of peace and beauty.
