The Bowers Beach Maritime Museum houses exhibits and artifacts found in the area. It is a history museum that presents two festivals a year. The Buccaneer Bash brings pirate reenactors, musicians and vendors to educate the public about pirates of the Delaware Bay. It occurs every Memorial Day weekend. Big Thursday on Sunday commemorates the festival that took place in the 1800's and early 1900's, in Bowers, celebrating the lifting of the ban on taking oysters from the bay. The activities of the day, in October, include a 5K race, parade, and vendors. With the participation of the Lenape Tribe of Delaware, we celebrate their heritage at this oysters event.
