Breezy Bottom Bees is a local small business apiary, with hives split between Elon and Stokesdale, NC, established in 2024. Owner, Don Purgason, began keeping bees in 2018, and has grown now to around 30 hives and yielding around 500 lb of honey. His wildflower honey has just been a hobby until this year, and seeks to serve NC residents with the many benefits of his local honey. He is currently in the process of infusing his honey with various flavors, such as blackberry, cinnamon, and hot mango, and then hopes to make creamed honey as well. His apiary is finally large enough to start rendering beeswax, as well. In 2026, Don will start selling bees and renting out hives! Workshops may be scheduled for small groups or individuals by request. Stay tuned, as announcements for new products and services will certainly follow!
