Rochester International Jazz Festival, Rochester, NY

The CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival is one of the largest international music events in the United States, attracting more than 200,000 people annually to Rochester, NY's east end cultural and entertainment district.

Since the festival began in 2002, Rochester has become synonymous with Jazz in June. It's the place to be to connect with friends and family to enjoy some of the finest creative improvised music from around the world.

With the streets filled with people, food trucks, and outdoor stages alive with music - it's a vibe that must be experienced. It's no wonder people say it's the best nine days in Rochester.

At the 2019 festival, June 21-Jun 29, producers John Nugent and Marc Iacona will once again present something for every music lover with more than 325 concerts in three series - the Headliner Series (tickets purchased in advance), Club Pass Series (enter with a Club Pass or cash at the door), and Free Shows (no tickets required) on outdoor stages.

More than 1,500 artists will come from almost 20 countries to perform at 20 diverse venues all within walking distance - intimate clubs including Max of Eastman Place, Montage and the Wilder Room; the elegant Hatch Recital Hall, Kilbourn Hall, Eastman Theatre; Christ Church and Lutheran Church, the Big Tent and several free stages.

Nurturing the next generation of musicians has long been a focus of the festival. Young musicians participate in free workshops with other young artists and established performers. More than 20 of the region's top school jazz bands and Eastman School youth jazz ensembles perform at the festival.  Festival Producers John Nugent and Marc Iacona have also established the RIJF Scholarship Program, which to date has helped almost 40 young musicians continue their musical education at Eastman School of Music. 

Jazz never sleeps and the festival nightly jam sessions are always a major highlight since there's no telling who will drop in to play.
