The Cambria Scarecrow Festival is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that produces an annual community wide event featuring hundreds of imaginative and whimsical scarecrows that are displayed throughout Cambria and San Simeon from October 1 through October 31.
Creators of these whimsical characters include local artists, business owners, students, and volunteers who don't think they're artists but really are. It also provides many programs that encourage artistic creativity and visibility to the communities of Cambria and San Simeon and provides scholarships to students poised to graduate from Cambria's high schools who plan to pursue careers in the arts.
It debuted in 2009 and has been featured in places as varied as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, ABC News, and Huffington Post. USA Today named our festival as one of the nation's top 10 autumn festivals and The Travel Channel included it in the top 10 scarecrow festivals in the U.S. and Canada. Last year, it was featured in Woman's Day as a place to “have a ball this fall.”
