Carl Unbehaun, Thief River Falls, MN
Singer of pensive ballads & bent commentaries on the human condition--what I call "folk music run amok." Me, myself & I on my '94 Takamine Santa Fe and vocals.
Born and raised in Wisconsin but holed up in NW Minnesota since 1993. Played in numerous dance bands performing everything from Steely Dan to Hank Williams Sr. Heavily influenced by Gordon Lightfoot, the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver, Martin Mull (yes, he was a musician before he was an actor), and even Dr. Demento! In short, I write the songs that nobody else thinks of writing, and my audiences appreciate the mix of somber and humorous material. At the very least, they walk out saying, "What the heck was that I heard?"
I've played up to seven hours without a break, so I'm very flexible! All original music. Were I to throw in a cover song, it would "If You Could Read My Mind," "Beautiful," "14 Karat Gold" or something else by Gordon Lightfoot, my musical muse. Otherwise, I let the jukebox play the cover tunes!
