Carmen Crochet, Fredrick, MD
I learned to crochet at the age of 15. One summer I asked my mom to teach me. So I learned. My first project was a dolley. My first few years crocheting I learn to make only household items such as pillows, afghans, curtains and bedspreads. During my 30's I learned to make scarfs and hats. Now in my 40's I am now crocheting more designer pieces more trendy such as purses, berets, vests, skirts, shrugs, blouses and holiday ornaments. I even crochet for my cats!
One of the many challenges I have as a crocheter is the perceptions from others saying to me "You can make that?" "I thought that was a dying hobby!" "That is too hard!"
My response is "If you put your mind to it you can achieve it!" Crocheting is fun and relaxing. I enjoy being creative!
