My love of art started when I was a little girl watching my very talented dad paint and draw at home. I would sit and watch him for hours hoping and praying that I too had the same talent.

My first artistic endeavors were the beautiful models on the cover's of magazines, such as Glamour. I would draw one after another, and decorated my bedroom walls. I thought they looked so glamourous with their long eyelashes, red lips and rosy cheeks.

As I grew older my love for art grew stronger and my skills developed. A pivoting point in my life was at 16. Home "sick" from school, bored because mom wouldn't let me watch TV; I decided to paint a mural on my wall. I was enchanted with a photograph on the cover of National Geographic magazine. The photo was of an adorable leopard cub hanging from the branch of a tree, his piercing green eyes were so mesmerizing, I just couldn't resist. I picked up a number 2 pencil and began to draw the cub on my bedroom wall. Surprisingly, my mom was very supportive. Murals were not uncommon in my house, we already had a beautiful mural of a Fawn and Doe on our playroom wall that my dad painted. Word spread of my leopard cub, relatives and friends would come to visit donating their left over paint cans from their homes. I would take every opportunity to work on my mural. I poured, mixed, stirred and painted; like a mad scientist. At times I would pretend I was one of those eccentric artists like Vincent Van Gough, alone in my world of color. Things got messy, once I accidentally stepped in green paint and walked down the hallway, and somehow my dad ended up with green paint on his forehead; but we all survived. In fact, my parents loved the cub so much that they created a jungle motif around it when I moved out.

At 18, I attended The Riley League of Artists with my dad. We took classes in life drawing and oil portrait painting. Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but my dad and I were very naive. We had no idea that life drawing class was about drawing naked people. Our first class was a real eye opener when the female model took off her faux fur and stood there buck- naked in front of us.

"OMG" she's naked!

My dad flushed every shade of red mumbling, "gee wiz" over and over. I was terribly uncomfortable and knew I had to do something to get my dad to relax. "Dad," I said, "We're artists, what artists see is not a naked lady but shadows and angles, right?" "Right," my dad said and that was that. We continued three times a week drawing naked people in Life Drawing class and never gave it another thought.

I then enrolled in another art school in CT called, Propersi School of Art. This is where my passion for watercolor developed.

I have freelanced over the years but mainly have been a homeschooling mother of three boys who are now young adults. I decided to pursue my art once again.
