Blog: Introduction

Chappell Hill Historical Society, Chappell Hill, TX

Hello!

Hello!
Thank you for checking out this blog!

The Chappell Hill Historical Society was founded in 1964 to preserve the Chappell Hill Circulating Library, which was founded in the late 19th century but not housed in its own building until one was built to house it in 1911. By 1964, the building was sorely in need of repair, and the society started to raise funds to rebuild it.

One result of that was an annual antique festival held in the conjunction of National Library Week and the Bluebonnet Trails weekends. Fifty one years later, we still have the Bluebonnet Festival the second weekend of April and have added the Scarecrow Festival on the second weekend of October.

These festivals are the main fundraisers to support our historical society, and we are grateful for all the vendors and visitors that make it possible!

Thank you!
Christine Hoffman
Museum Director,
Chappell Hill Historical Society Museum.
