The City of Summerville Main Street/Better Hometown Program works to promote downtown bussiness and vitality. Summerville was desinated as a Better Hometown Community in the year of 2000. The Historical District of Summerville is filled with history and culture. World Renowned Artist Howard Finster's Paradise Garden is a popular tourist attraction and is located just outside of the city limits.Our Historical Summerville Depot, located beside Dowdy Park, is the host for the Tennessee Valley Railroad Train Excursions every weekend in October and the first two weekends in November. We are home to one of the only train tourntables in the southeast. Our goal is to stimulate the economy downtown through tourism and festivals.
