People always ask me how I got into this business. Well, I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset starting back when I was 10 with my first lemonade stand to owning a coffeehouse in Phoenix and now with a pet sitting business and Collapsible Bottle Sales here in Marin.
In early 2011, I came across the idea in an old, random magazine I picked up from the public library in Novato. There was a single paragraph blurb about a product called a collapsible water bottle - no picture, no website, no brand name. When I let my mother read the article she noticed the magazine was over a year old! You mean these bottles have been around that long and weren't mainstream yet?
I tested selling the bottles at 3 different events in late 2011 and I sold out in 2 of the 3 shows! This convinced me to continue selling them and I appeared at 22 different festivals, flea markets and shows in 2012 as "The Bottle Guy".
I credit the discovery of these versatile, re-usable and quality bottles to just plain old-fashioned luck, but also on my insatiable curiosity and continual search for the "next big thing." As an added bonus this is also something that can help the environment.
