Crandall Glass Crafts, Owatonna, MN
I work mostly in the copper foil technique, hand cutting, fitting, foiling soldering each piece of glass for every creation. Some of the larger creations however are crafted with lead channel, snugly holding the glass together then puttied and some times framed with wood for stability. My creativity stretched to even re-purposing old dishes for individually designed plate panels. Wine glass and tea cups become angels. I have a menagerie of fantasy creatures ranging from fairies, dragons, gargoyles cast in lead free bodies Then given flight with glass wings. Kaleidoscopes lined with mirrors to give a colorful view to the world while lanterns caged in metal houses cast hues of light every where. My inspiration is drawn from multiple sources, whether it be every day life, birds and other wildlife, even the flowers grown in my yard.
