Kate Pruitt has been making concrete pieces for gardens for 5 years. She has her own mix of vinyle concrete that allows for full stregnth pieces with less thickness and therefor less weight. She uses a sense of quilting with a roll of lasking tape to make beautiful natural patterns that are stained, dry brshed and sealed. Her 4' tables are 1" thick and weigh 130 lbs. They fit in the back of a van or SUV, and can also be fire ring covers or sunk in the ground as a small patio piece. Her birbaths can be simple elephant ears, or sunflowers or flowers made from leaves. They come in all sizes: soap dishes to giant fountain leaves. She also makes endless shapes in trivets that have felt on the back for indoor use. Her favorite plants to work with are elephant ear. burdoch, hosta, sunflower, deiffenbachia, hibiscus and bamboo.

This year her husband Paul is heading up a new division of Creations in Concrete: stepping stones. Their first year offering are pro-mold products at 16" each: a poppy leaf and a sunflower. Then also there is a sandcast cedar shrub and well as glow in the dark fish that are non-mold products. If you buy direct from them you can get a deal with installation included in a special price.
