ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lee Baker DeVore received her Bachelor's of Fine Arts from Miami University in 1973. For the bulk of the following years she was partner in a landscape design/build firm in SW Ohio, where her creativity was focused in the garden world, with other creative endeavors fit in around the edges.
She has held a scattering of exhibitions locally over the years, and has won several “best of Show” and 'honorable mention' awards in regional exhibitions. She recently retired and now creates in Oxford, Ohio.
She works in both two and three dimensions, creating expressionistic drawings, collages and paintings featuring inclusion of natural materials in very hands-on-and-in ways. Her most recent work uses fingers and found objects (like sticks, pine cones, weeds) and pigments (like mud, berries, flower petals, whatever is handy.) She also builds whimsical indoor/outdoor elf & fairy houses of gathered materials, ranging in size from hanging ornaments to garden installations.
This spring marks her first foray into the arts and crafts fair/festival venue in over 20 years. It is a new adventure.
