Dirtgroove, Randolph, NJ

Member Since: September 26, 2011
Randolph, New Jersey

dirtgroove started in 2004 when Dave Bolles and Dave Brown( guitar and bass)recorded a CD titled "dirtgroove" and performed under this name as an opening act in PA in 2005. They became a  threesome with addition of Jay Cox on Congoes then added Kim Belsky on hand percussion and vocals. With the addition of Berklee schooled Ian Hayes on lead guitar in March of  2009 the bands’ sound had come to full fruition. This culminated in the recording of an eight song CD titled " In the groove' in September of 2009 . After several well attended shows at Chaplins and Steel City Coffeehouse circumstances had Kim and Dave Bolles returning to New Jersey to live. The members ,minus Jay Cox, decided to continue with the addition of Eric Reinhardt  filling the percussion spot. New music was worked in and some shows in Jersey ( Pavillion Lounge, Studio of Llong Valley and a return to PA for the Dogwood Festival in 2010 and 2011) . Eric moved up to MA in 2010 and a powerful addition in 2011 was the talented Anibal Fuentes on Congo and Percussion. He chose to move on for personal reasons. We have recruited Carol Pena to fill the percussion void and look forward to working with her.
The varied musical influences of all the members reflect the overall sound. This is music that does not readily fit into the "genre" checkbox. Sometimes jazzy ,sometimes rocking. Sometimes folksy, sometimes funky. "Eclectic" is the word people use when they can't make it fit the box. So be it. dirtgroove is eclectic in sound. We love what we do and it shows. Always happy ,always fun, come on out and enjoy!
