I made my first pot, as a 10 year old, tagging along to my Mom's art class. It was the beginning of a love affair with creating. My first shop in the 70's was a corner in a local greenhouse, throwing pots, tying macrame hangers, and making customized bowls for local restaurants. As our family grew, my shop became the creative space, accompanied by family, friends and neighborhood dogs who were always welcome.
I love the individual personality of hand-built pots. I like to add textures and to use the pot body as a canvas, tattooing the pot with birds, dogs, lizards, etc. On the wheel, I like to explore traditional shapes, while adding my own take and variations.
Clay is how I get stuff out of my head. It is a connection from my soul to my hands.
Wood is a new adventure. I am exploring products and projects that are hands on, like wagons and pikler arches.
