My name is Deborah Claire Paskin and I create layered paper art.
My method of layered paper design was created quite by accident. Many, many years ago while living abroad on a limited budget, I could not afford greeting cards so I made my own. I started with a pair of scissors and paper. My friends framed the cards I gave them and told me I should sell my work. When I returned to the states I brought back armloads of beautiful papers and my passion was in full swing.
I progressed from cards to stationery to large art pieces depicting traditional subject matter. I love layering the paper to give my subject matter dimension.
The purchase of a laser cutter enabled me to draw more complex, intricate designs which allowed me to create jewelry. Paper is the dominate medium for my earrings and pendants along with wood and acrylic paints. I use sterling silver, copper and bronze findings along with beads, semi-precious stones, and vintage beads and buttons.
My craft continues to evolve and I go wherever it takes me.
