My name is Jennifer and I am the Designer And Maker Of Meaningful Silver Pieces!
After a serious cancer diagnosis caused me to leave a 20+ year management career I loved, friends dragged me to a bead show in Milwaukee in 2009. There, I discovered silver metal clay and started creating meaningful pieces for others. Each of my pieces is painstakingly and lovingly created one at a time, so no two are exactly the same. I incorporate semi-precious stones, dichroic glass, mother of pearl, and abalone among others. In addition, creating custom pieces from fingerprints, paw prints, handwriting, and cremains is our passion!
About Metal Clay:
• Metal clay is a clay-like medium consisting of very small particles of precious metals (such as silver, gold, platinum, or copper) mixed with an organic binder and water. Metal clay is then shaped just like any soft clay.
• After drying, the clay is fired in a variety of ways including in a kiln, with a handheld gas torch, or on a gas stove. During the firing process, the organic binders burn away and the resulting silver particles sinter (to become a coherent mass by heating without melting). As a result, the piece becomes denser & stronger. Firing causes the piece to shrink anywhere between 8% and 30% (depending on the product used).
• Once completely fired, the remaining piece is composed of 99.9% pure silver, which is also known as “Fine Silver"...and will make an heirloom piece to be cherished for years to come! Each of our pieces is painstakingly and lovingly created one at a time, so no two are exactly the same! Because each item is crafted and polished by hand to a deep luster, any imperfections are part of the character of the piece.
