Dr. Dubious plays the hot jazz of the 20’s & 30’s in New Orleans & Chicago styles. Dr. Dubious features female and male vocals & our line-up of clarinet, cornet, trombone, bass sax or tuba, piano, banjo & drums (doubling trumpet for 2 trumpet features ala Oliver/Armstrong or West Coast style) is expanded by doubling on alto & C Melody sax; flugelhorn; string bass & soprano sax; keyboard & guitar. We can put on a show in concert or complement your event program as you desire with requested tunes & background style & perform as 4, 5, 6 or 7 pieces indoors or out. We would like to have power access for keyboard & vocals, but can furnish our own power supply if necessary. We can also stroll through the event or march in a parade.

We have been very active over the last year (for Dixieland, that is . . . J ) with appearances at First Night Morris Area last NYE, library concerts at Mahwah and Haverstraw, our fourth year at the Westfield downtown summer jazz series,  jazz evenings at Jazzberry Patch in Teaneck and Michael’s in Oradell, telecast on WCTV in Washington Township, Mardi Gras party at Stevens Tech . . . Well, you get the picture . . . we are polishing our act and expanding our repertoire (We even did some Beatles recently to match a party theme . . . “Yellow Submarine” and “When I’m Sixty-Four” have a beat that can be swung, but we didn’t match the haircuts or guitars J ).

We can offer me, the Doctor, on clarinet and vocals, Karen Bartholomew on piano and vocals, Bart Bartholomew on cornet and flugelhorn, Dave Brown on drums and doubling on cornet/trumpet to join Bart for 2 trumpet features ala Oliver/Armstrong or West Coast style, Dick Dreiwitz on trombone, Barbara Dreiwitz on tuba or John Steenstra on bass sax, and Monroe Quinn on banjo/guitar.
