Sun Goddess Soaps is a one woman company owned by Dorothy Simmons. Sun Goddess Soaps was created to market affordable soaps to the person who wants to experience the luxurious feel of "handmade" soaps as compared to commercial soaps. All of her soaps are made in small batches so that she can control the product. All ingredients are hand measured, poured and packaged. She is proud to say that she works all facets of the company to ensure the best quality soap on the market. She wanted to have control over what oils/fats went into her soaps, working toward a non-drying bar of soap. No detergents are used in the process and all soaps have been tested on family and friends. She has been making soap for over eight years and uses her soap daily. She reports to having soft, moist skin and attributes that to use of her soap.
As she has learned more about the soapmaking process, she began adding more sustainable oils to her product. Sustainable means the oil or fat can be sustained for an indefinite period without damaging the environment, or without depleting a resource. It is renewable. Sustainable oils or fats are more expensive but it is important to her that we protect the environment.
Dorothy Simmons is a retired deputy sheriff looking for a career change. After reading the history of soapmaking, she became fascinated in the process. The process of soapmaking allows her to tap into her creative side. She is married to a wonderful, supportive husband and has one daughter. Her daughter eagerly tests her soap for her.
