Legendary guitarist Em K began playing guitar at age seven. Forgoing a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee School of Music, he honed his craft when it was considered cool to be a lead rock guitar player, and incorporating the outrageoous in to his performance came naturally. After years on the rock music scene, Em K decided to play solo guitar and began playing classical pieces, but with a distinctive rock-inspired approach. Paying homage to his rock roots, he also performs some of that genre's most popular songs, which have been classically transcribed. The dynamic rocker fuses the beauty of classical with the raw energy of rock, resulting in an enchanting and uniquely personal sound, the "guitar equivalent of the XGames" says music writer Paul Liberatore. Currently receiving air play on KFOG's Acoustic Sunrise and Acoustic Sunset, Em K performs around the Bay Area at festivals, restaurants, coffee houses, weddings, wineries, in concerts, and at music venues such as the old Larkspur Cafe Theatre. He is also a regular performer at farmer's markets and entertains at retirements homes around the Bay Area. Voted one of Marin's Guitar Heroes in the Marin Independent Journal, his music and delivery style are appreciated by audiences of all ages.
