~Being artistic and creating artwork have been favorite activities to do in my spare time since I was a little girl. I am only twenty one years old, but I know that painting and being creative is who I am! Since a very young age I have dreamed about being an “artist” and would paint, draw, and sew any chance and opportunity I had. A few years ago one of my teacher’s saw some of my doodling on my notebook and asked if I would be interested in painting murals and inspirational words on her classroom walls. That was my first time someone had paid me to use my artistic ability. That sparked something inside me and gave me the boost I needed to practice harder and try new techniques to be a better artist. Being only 15 years old I knew that I could start my own little painting business!  I started buying canvases and began painting!  It’s been six years since I painted on my high school walls and I am still pursuing my art creations! Within these six years I have had many opportunities to exhibit my artwork across America! For a long time I had wanted to open up an art gallery, so this summer I proved to myself that it did not have to stay a dream, but could actually happen! I went forth and opened my own art gallery and have been very pleased with the outcome of my success. With help of family and friends, long hours and late nights, "Emily's Original Art" opened on June 10th of 2010 in Mentone, Alabama. I have been blessed with many opportunities since opening my art gallery this past summer. It gave me a chance to broaden my clientele in not just Alabama, but in cities all across America. I have been commissioned to design artwork for business’s, private residents, and one very special event in Kentucky. I was asked to design and create a large piece of my artwork for the Auction at the Wellspring House dinner at Churchill Downs (which is the dinner leading up the Kentucky Derby Race) last May, and I have been asked to donate another custom piece of artwork again for this year’s event. There is no better feeling than seeing individual’s eye light up, and hearing such positive, happy compliments after they view my whimsical, eclectic artwork!  My passion for art will never change! My future will consist of believing, praying, smiling, and painting!
