The legacy of Fou de Frites began in Brussels, Belgium, in 1970. As an Army family, my Dad & Mom, Colonel and Mrs. John F. Hoffman introduced my brothers and sisters to the joy of Belgian frites during our time stationed there. Our first taste of these golden delights was in the iconic Grand Place—a moment that sparked a lifelong love for frites. From then on, Sunday nights became synonymous with frites for our family.
Our journey continued to the Netherlands during my high school years, where we discovered Dutch frites, paired with sauces like curry, gravy, and the classic frite sauce. They became the perfect companion to our youthful adventures and a cherished family tradition.
Back in the U.S., we longed for the taste of European frites, a flavor that held so many fond memories. Fou de Frites is our tribute to those moments and to our parents, whose love and warmth shaped who our family is today!
We invite you to create new traditions and memories with your loved ones over a cone of perfectly crafted frites. Welcome to the Fou de Frites family!
