Foxfire Crafts, Mineral Bluff, GA
I use exposed film negatives and slides as a medium to create whimsical art pieces, night light designs, and holiday ornaments. Essentially, I cut captured moments on exposed film media and then form them to create a collaged image.
My art pieces and limited edition prints are showcased in either shadow or light boxes. The night lights feature prints of my designs attached to glass and a manual night light base, and the holiday ornaments feature prints encased in a glass ball with a bit of glitter snow to shake around for fun.
Regarding booth setup, the nightlights are featured on three professional 29” panels with working electrical outlets. The panels sit on a tabletop and are powered by a pre-charged solar battery. Shadow and light box art prints up to 12" x 12" are also displayed on a tabletop on risers of varying heights. Art prints as well as original pieces may alternately be displayed on standing panels.
More about me:
I enjoy finding the little and big moments captured in film and using them to create something new in my designs. Some of the film negatives and slides I've used to create my pieces are as old as the 1950s (I digitize most negatives and slides to preserve them before use). It's pretty amazing to see the details of culture and how it's changed throughout the decades, as well as the colors and brands of the film media itself.
