I recently retired from teaching high school art and now have time to fucus on my creatiions. I am an accomplished ceramic artist and I am known from my ceramic leaf dishes. I press real leaves into the clay and use a sling mould to create the form.
MY dried flower arrangements, wreaths and wall hangings were inspired by my new annual and perennial business. Now I grow and dry gump, straw flowers, statice , broom corn and other ornamental plants that dry well for arranging. I gather plants, weeds, grasses, thistles and glodenrod to use in my arrangements. My car is always full of " weeds" and assorted plant material that I collect from road sides and local fields. I am hooked on collecting plants in subtle colors and textures and my basement is a harvest of hanging and drying plant material.
