I created Gift of Love Dolls in memory of my mother Maria who passed away in January 2012 from complication after a heart attack and diagnosed with dementia in 2006. My mother loved dolls. She was a gentle soul, a tender power, that would help you in anyway she could. My mother loved Christmas, enjoyed stories of romance, and loved to sing. She especially loved Disney musicals.
As a little girl, my mother gave me a doll every every year for Christmas. I remember looking forward to my new doll that would sustain me for the next year. I do not have a memory of what happened to my dolls because I should have an incredible collection, but I do not.
My doll was my friend, my companion. Though I grew up with four sisters and one brother, we all had different interests. It is funny how growing up in a large family one finds their individuality in a simple thing as a doll.
Gift of Love Dolls was designed to commorate my mother Maria. Our doll is designed to be a catalyst to give a gift of love; because it was a doll that was my first Gift of Love from my mother, and it was a doll that encouraged my imagination, that first listened to me read, that was my first companion and confidant.
I translated my love for dolls to my only daughter, "Jeanri" and she, as a girl had a love for dolls as well. I encouraged and supported her love for dolls all through her childhood in the hopes that she too would find her individuality, courage, and independence as I did through my dolls.
Our Maria Dolls are boy and girl regular dolls or Elves. They are helpers, keepers of the seasons and watchers of the land. When you purchase our dolls, we will donate $4.oo of each purchased doll to an Alzheimer' Home Care Provider in your name. If you would like the donation to go to a specific home, just provide us that information and we will be happy to do so on your behalf.
