Set among a quiet historic village in SE Iowa, there are a few historic buildings that now hold shops with working artists. The pace is slower, no stop lights in the whole county. Bentonsport is popular stopping spot among many "Villages of Van Buren" in which there are many outdoor and historic venues for visitors.
Bentonsport vendors set along the scenic riverside park for the outdoor show. The event is open for crafts, flea market, antiques and resale for a family friendly experience. A few artisan shops across the park with a working blacksmith, potter, woodworkers, antique shop, Indian Artifact Museum, campgrounds and Historic Inn help draw visitors to this village. Vendors can bring their food or buy during the event as there is no grocery store or gas station within 5 miles which is why Bentonsport is unique. The park and several historic buildings is ran by the Van Buren County Conservation as well as this event. This provides a partnership of local and county to work together to make Bentonsport the destination it is.
